Phare des Baleines – Semaphore – Phare des Baleineaux
More than 100 000 people each year climb the 257 steps of the granite staircase of the ''Phare des Baleines''. It is the most visited on the ''Île de Ré'' site.
It was built between 1849 and 1853 in the northwestern tip of the island. This is one of the most powerful of all the Atlantic coast with its 57,10 meters high and meduim range of 50 km.
Phare des Baleineaux
It was built between 1849 et 1853 in addition to the new Phare des Baleines. Built on the open sea, 3 km from the coast, on the Hauts Banks North rocks. The ''Phare des Baleineaux'' is classified as historical monuments by decree on 23 octobre 2012.
Semaphore des Baleines
Built in 1863, Semaphore des Baleines located not far from the Phare des Baleines, maintains a watching from sunrise to sunset, and 365 days a year.
