The salt marshes - Cartage salt - The salt workers huts
Salt or saline marshes are a set of shallow ponds, called tiles, in which the salt is harvested, obtained by evaporation of sea water, under the combined action of the sun and wind.
They are a type of agricultural operation whose activity is called salt production or in its old form, the Saunerie. Those who harvest salt from the salt marshes are called saliculteurd or salt workers or sea-salt. Those that carry to sell are called marsh.
